LAST DAY

Having this certificate means our immersion is done. We are very happy and thankful. We learned a lot of new things in our 10 days of Immersion and 2 days of extension. 

Days passed after our last day of immersion we visited Cabrera Memorial Hospital and gave our token where we wrote our messages and thanks to staff. We will treasure our experience in this Immersion. 

18 THINGS I LEARNED DURING IMMERSION DAYS

1. I have learned the flow of the hospital though I already have a glimpse of how the how hospital runs but during my immersion I really understood its flow very well.

2. I learned how the system of the hospital works/functions.

IN ACCOUNTING AND BILLING DEPARTMENT...

3. I learned how the bill of the patients are computed.

4. I learned that everybody should inform the Accounting Department with all the money matter doings because they will audit and balance all the money the receive and release.

IN PHARMACY DEPARTMENT...

5. I learned the different types of dextroses and where it will be applicable to use, also the kinds of medicines like vial, ampule, etc. There are also medicines that should be kept in the refrigerator.

6. I learned that in  the pharmacy you be very careful with all the medicines that will be release because it should be very important and it really varies between the dosage, price, brand and for pedia/adult. 

7. I learned that even syringe has an expiration date.

IN LABORATORY DEPARTMENT...

8. I learned how to extract blood from a patient using a pricker, and tested the blood to determine the blood type.

9. I learned how to torniquet and get blood from the veins using a syringe.

10. I learned how to physically and chemically examine a urine by its color, pH level, protein, glucose, etc.

11.I learned how to read and write results of the Pentra machine, the Pentra machine is where the sample blood will be tested to Cell Blood Count (CBC), Platelet, Hemoglobin, Hemocratin,etc.

12. I learned that infant will be pricked in their heels to collect  blood, children and some young adults will be pricked in the fingers and adults will undergo venesection.

IN NURSES STATION...

13. I learned how to dilute vial medicines and prepare medicines for patients.

14. I learned how to take vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration.

15. I learned how to prepare the dextrose for the patient and skin test to know if the patient is allergic to the antibiotic prescribe by the doctor.

16. I learned to endorse a patient though I am not yet fluent in endorsing but I know the procedure very well.

17. I learned about the nebulizer machine and Electro Cardio Gram machine and its functions.

18. I learned that taking care of the patient is important, when they enter the hospital they should feel immediate care from the nurses because the nurses are the first one who will be seen by the patients.

IMMERSION TIME

My Immersion venue is an institution providing treatment, a place where people are taken care off immediately. This place is 24 hours open and is ready to cater everybody as long as they could help, and this place is the Miguel O. Cabrera Memorial Hospital Corp. (MCMHC). MCMHC is private hospital owned by Father Miguel O. Cabrera Sr.

On our first day of Immersion, we were oriented about the flow around the hospital and had a little tour on the 5 stations where we are going to be assigned; Accounting and Billing, Information, Pharmacy, Laboratory and Nurse Station. 

In just 10 days we will be rotating in this 5 Stations, 2 days per sation. It feels so great that in just 10 days we will have different experiences in the different fields of medicine, not only medicine but including Accounting and Billing also. 

Pre-Immersion Orientation and Send-Off Ceremony Experience

The Pre-Immersion Orientation is one of the signs that we will be immersed. The speaker clearly discussed the importance of the Immersion Program for Senior High School. To be immersed is to experience the reality of the track we chose. Immersion is also realizing and clearing doubts in our minds. Because of the Pre-Immersion Orientation, we have an overview about what might happen during the Immersion. Thanks to speaker of Humaan Resource Officer and PESO Head of the Municipality of Nabunturan who completely shares her knowledge.The Send-off Ceremony is a step closer to success where all the blood and sweat of our hard work has paid off. This ceremony is also a memorable one because having you parent beside you and guiding you means that your whole family is supporting  on every checkpoints in life. Their unconditional love and support is one of a kind that no one except God can surpass.

PARENT'S DAY

Home becomes sweet if there is a presence of the family and family becomes sweeter if there is a presence of our parents. They build home which built by unlimited love and care.

"Without our parents, we are not here" the famous line that never gets old as their love that never fades. They are responsible for their children's necessities. There are times that they give up their own necessities just to provide their children's. Their unconditional love  is enough reason for them to make great sacrifices for the care of their children. Parents serve as role models not only through direct interactions with their children, but through the examples they set with their attitude and behavior within the family and in the outside world. By addressing their concerns, sharing their lives, and maintaining a constructive perspective, parents can contribute to their children's personal growth and development .

As the fourth commandment states, "Honor thy father and mother" which intend to express that we have to show our merited respect and value our parents. As we grow each day let us not forget that our parents get older too. They are gift from God however, not everyone is lucky enough to be with them.

Life is in itself an amazing gift. It is indeed a gift from God. No one else is allowed to take one's life nor waste it. Human trafficking is a crime that certainly cause loss and waste of lives.

INAKALA is a video presentation about Human Trafficking made by the selected students of Nabuturan National Comprehensive Highschool.

Poverty is the possible root of human trafficking. It is a crime against the person because of the violation of the victim's right of movement through coercion and because of their commercial exploitation. It violate three commandments which are the fifth, seventh and tenth. Fifth commandment states that "Thou shall not kill." Human trafficking can cause loss of lives due to a psychological trauma or depression. Seventh commandment states that "Thou shall not steal." Basically, this crime steals the right of every victim and lead them to do something that is against to their will. Last but not the least, the tenth commandment that states, "Thou shall not covet your neighbor's good." Human trafficking is the trade of people, specifically the women and children for the purpose of forced labour, sexual slavery or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others.

This crime is all over in our country. In order for it to eradicate is, the government should be more focus and must keep an eye on this certain crime. People, especially the women and the parents of the children should be more cautious. Afterall, prevention is better than cure. Physical wound can be cured, but the psychological trauma takes time to be healed.
